Wow ! Kylian Mbappe complete his promises
Kylian Mbappe, the star striker of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), assured fans that he will remain with the club for the upcoming season, dispelling rumours of a potential departure. The announcement came as Mbappe was awarded the Ligue 1 Player of the Year accolade for the fourth consecutive time. Despite persistent interest from Real Madrid, Mbappe stated his commitment to honouring his existing contract with PSG. The 24-year-old affirmed, "Next year I will play at Paris Saint-Germain, I still have a contract, I will honour my contract."
Mbappe's declaration arrived during the UNFP awards ceremony, where he was also recognised in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year alongside Lionel Messi, who was absent due to attending a Coldplay concert in Barcelona. Having played a vital role in PSG's triumph, scoring 28 goals in Ligue 1, Mbappe's words may hint at a potential free transfer move after the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, as he approaches the final year of his contract. Mbappe's immediate focus remains on PSG's last game of the season, set to take place on June 3 against Clermont Foot, before he shifts his attention to the international stage for the UEFA European Championship. PSG clinched their 11th French title, but their season was marred by tension and fan backlash against players, including Lionel Messi, and the club president.
The record-breaking title was secured with a 1-1 draw against Strasbourg. The season, however, will be remembered for its numerous low points. The appointment of coach Christophe Galtier aimed to usher in a new era, but despite his promise to treat all players equally, PSG fell short of their Champions League aspirations.
Galtier's job was at stake at the end of a troubled first season, and it is unlikely he will return for a second campaign.
